Freelancing: Escape The 9-5 Rat Race, Live Anywhere, Attain Freedom:
Freelancing, becoming location-independent, and earning a living online, is not as complicated as you may think it is.
In this article, I’m going to make this VERY simple for you.
I’m going to tell you how you can achieve freedom, and location-independence, even as a brand new freelancer.
At the end of the article, I have a very specific action step for you to take, that will get you started today.
I’m going to relate this to you directly, meaning I won’t talk about how I did this (I already did that here, and here), rather: I’m going to focus on you, and you only.
There are immense benefits to being able to earn your living fully online. I could literally spend 3 whole articles, ONLY talking about why making your living online, is the way of future.
Hell if you guys remember Victor Pride of Bold&Determined.com, he devoted practically his entire brand/message to outlining the benefits of this lifestyle.
And Victor had one of the most popular men’s self-improvement blogs of all time.
The top reasons why you should seriously consider making your living online, & thus become a location independent entrepreneur (in no particular order):
1.) More FREEDOM.
2.) Not having to sit in bumper to bumper, stop and go traffic 2 hours a day (or more).
3.) Not having to report to a boss, or superior every day….ever again.
4.) The ability to travel at will and see the world (there is a great big world out there just waiting for you)
5.) The ability to work when you want, how you want, and where you want (your house, coffee shops, parks, outdoor patios (in nice weather), in whatever country you choose.
6.) The ability to wake up every day when you want to (not getting violently woken up by the sound of an alarm clock).
7.) Less stress.
And by that I mean A LOT less stress. No more dealing with BS minutia every day (bills, waiting on hold, trying to bypass robtos, etc.). Not having your emotions feel like they’re on an up/down roller coaster all the time.
8.) You won’t have to worry about your store getting looted by Antifa or BLM.
9.) If you move to a less expensive area, you can take of advantage of the currency difference between the value of your currency back home Vs. what its worth in the developing country.
10.) You can take advantage of the Foreign Earned Income Tax Exclusion.
This is the best kept secret in the article, this ALONE could justify you doing this, and making this life change all by itself.
What this Exclusion says, is that the 1st $100K you make while living abroad, so long as you spend at least 332 days outside of the country, you will not get taxed on.
Translation: that equates to about $40,000 in your pocket….
11.) If you’re a man, you can date beautiful women from different countries all over the world.
Including countries and areas where toxic feminism has not infected the women there.
The top 3 areas for this are: Southeast Asia (namely: Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, Cambodia, The Philippians), South America (Columbia, Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina, Peru, Chile), and Eastern Europe (Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Greece, Croatia).
12.) Adventure. This is your life guys, and its ending one minute at a time. One hour at a time, one day at a time, your life is ending. What are you still waiting for?
The time to wake up is right NOW.
I want you to think for a few minutes, about where your strengths are. In what area do you have expertise in something. Even if its just a little expertise (or not fully developed in other words).
What does that look like for you?
Everybody has a little more skill in one or two particular areas, than they do in others. Now all you have to do is think about how you can merge that skill, with something you are interested in.
Having talent and skill in something however, is not the same thing as being interested or intrigued by something.
They are different. The key, is finding the right balance between something you have natural talent for, and a subject that interests you.
If you get into a situation where you have to make a choice between these two however, always remember this:
Your skillset & talent level in something, is more usually more important than your interest & passion level is.
And to put this another way:
Always play to your strengths, you’ll see MUCH faster progress that way.
There are a few ways you can go about earning a living online.
So where would you even start here?
Well, I promised you I’d make this as simple and as easy for you as I could, and I meant it.
That being said: I’m going to break down the top 3 most common ways people today make their living online.
Here they are:
1.) Selling a physical product (E-Commerce).
2.) Selling a digital product (information, either behind a paywall, or contained in an E-Book &/or Video Product).
3.) Selling a service (Freelancing, Consulting, &/or) Coaching.
If you use me as a quick example here, my main method for making money here at MissionLifeMotion, will eventually be by selling digital products.
My 1st few products are in the works as I write this, but are still several months away from being released (March most likely).
These will be E-Books and Video courses on how you can level up as a man. If you’re on my email list, you’ll be notified weeks before these will be getting released, so if you haven’t already gotten on my email list then make sure you sign up here.
In any case, these digital downloadable products will be my primary method for making money from my brand.
While I would certainly not discourage you guys AT ALL from going a similar route, you must understand that in most cases it takes guys like me YEARS to build up their blogs/websites, and YouTube channels.
And by that I mean build it up to a level where they have an audience that’s willing to buy their products.
I started MissionLifeMotion in early 2017, its now October of 2020, and I’m just now starting to get to a point where I’ll be releasing products (and they’re even 3-5 months away still).
It takes a loong time to build up a blog, YouTube channel, and a business social media following. On average, it actually takes guys about 3-4 years.
While I will say that my brand has been slower with this process than most personal brands are, I had my reasons why, which I already discussed here.
What I’m getting at here, is there is a MUCH faster way to get this process started, than by starting a personal brand.
And that way/method, is none other than this:
FREELANCING.
Therefore if you don’t want to wait to start making money, then the best and fastest way you CAN start making money, is through Freelancing.
Freelancing: what is it exactly?
Freelancing, as defined by Google, is this:
”A freelancer is a self-employed person who offers services, often working on several jobs for multiple clients at one time…. Freelancers usually earn money on a per-job basis, charging hourly or daily rates for their work. Freelance work is usually short-term.”
You basically are an independent contractor with a skill or talent, and you offer your skill/talent to the online marketplace, thus making yourself available to people or businesses that need the service you offer.
In exchange for your services, skills and talent, you charge them for your time or for your work.
Not a difficult concept to wrap your head around hopefully.
Here are some examples of the most common Freelancing gig’s (this is list is not exhaustive):
1.) Writing articles for people, or for businesses.
2.) Graphic Design.
3.) Managing someone’s social media page/s (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, SnapChat, LinkedIn, etc.). If you excel with social media, you could offer to do 2-5 posts a day for companies that don’t want, or don’t know how to efficiently use social media themselves.
4.) Copywriting (Writing Ad Copy, or Sales Copy) on or for: websites/blogs, emails, or other types of websites.
5.) Ghostwriting.
6.) Email Marketing.
7.) Whiteboard Animation Videos (random I know, but there’s a demand for it).
8.) Writing Tweets for people, or companies.
9.) Editing (video editing, article editing, etc.).
10.) Proofreading articles, essays, or thesis’s (any kind of typed work).
11.) Transcribing spoken audio into words.
12.) Virtual Assistant.
13.) Web-Design or Web-Development.
14.) Consulting, or Coaching (Business or Personal).
(#’s 13 and 14 are more involved and I would consider to be more advanced, they could also stand on their own)
You may immediately already know as you’re reading this, what YOUR talent and skill set is you can market.
For others, you may have to think about this for several days.
And for the remainder of you: you may need to take a course that will teach you more about cultivating a certain talent/skill you have further.
If you’re in this 3rd group, then understand there is nothing wrong with this at all, there are many men in your exact shoes reading this right now.
You just have to understand that either:
A.) More time will be required of you so you can learn & cultivate this interest of yours, into a skill/talent, or…
B.) More work will be required of you (it will take you longer to do the same thing other people can do quicker).
My advice, is to look at freelancing as a long term thing, not a quick fix. Take the necessary time to develop your skill to higher level.
Okay, so now lets jump ahead, because I’m sure you want to know where I’m going with this.
Let’s say now you know what your particular talent or skillset is (that you’ll offer to the market).
Now what? How do you just ”become a freelancer?”
Well luckily if you’re reading this, then you’re in the right place, at the right time.
Very recently (as in just a few months ago) there was a whole video course (AND online community) that was created that teaches guys just like you, EXACTLY how to become a Freelancer as I’m describing it here.
Not only that: but it teaches you how to completely and entirely dominate as a Freelancer. How to excel and stand out among ALL competition.
It actually shows you this to such a vast extent, that you essentially end up having no competition (if you follow it correctly).
You’ll become the ”go-to” guy that people recommend (it will be a no brainer that ”you’re the guy” who does this skill, or that one, in other words).
The power of word of mouth referrals is extremely powerful, never forget that!
The course I’m referring to, is called ”The Freelancer Profit Manual”, and is series of video modules created by none other than the man himself, Dylan Madden:
Dylan Madden is a self-made man, who was at one point in his life depressed and unhappy. He made significant changes to his mindset, and turned his life around very quickly. He started a very successful blog, YouTube channel, and Twitter account.
He also became a freelancer writing emails for a few companies (persuasive email copy).
About a year and a half ago he moved overseas to Qatar, and now he comes and goes as he pleases. He makes his living 100% online, and does so well that he even helps his family back home financially.
Now lets talk for a minute about what Dylan has created in this course:
A look into what you’ll get in this course:
-Module 10: ”Be Specific – Not Random”
-Module 11: ”Can You Be Anonymous”
-Module 12: ”Working on a Schedule?”
-Module 13: ”My Intention for You”
-Module 14: ”Advanced Rapport Building on Twitter”
-Module 15: ”Red Flags to Avoid”
-Module 16: ”Market Research: Client Wizard”
-BONUS: ”$0-$8k Per Month”
-BONUS: ”Think & Go Hustle E-Book”
You read that right, if you purchase this course by clicking this link right here (or on any of the links in this article), you’ll also get Dylan’s famous E-Book ”Think & Go Hustle” as part of the package. This is powerful extra as this book has helped hundreds of men just like you become free.
I want to end this article on the #1 reason why Freelancing, the absolute BEST thing you reading this, can do right now, especially in light of what’s been happening in the world and where the world is headed:
Freelancing & location-independence (the ability to come & go as you please):
As many of you know: I recently became a location-independent entrepreneur.
3-4 months ago in August, I moved to Eastern Europe (Belgrade, Serbia). I can honestly say, beyond any and every shadow of any doubt: this has been the best thing I have ever done in my entire life.
My creativity has been stimulated beyond anything you can even comprehend right now.
On top of that:
1.) I live in a beautiful new (old) European city, with the most gorgeous women in the world walking around everywhere.
Seriously, every 3 feet there is another smoking hot supermodel-looking girl rounding the corner. I have never, EVER in my life seen so many attractive women in one location.
My description here is not even really doing it justice either.
2.) I no longer wake every day, to the ”BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!!!” of a loud annoying, alarm clock.
Instead: I wake up when I’m ready to wake up.
3.) I can work out of coffee shops and cafes all day, every day (if I choose too).
Sometimes I prefer to work from home, and sometimes I prefer to work in ”Expat Entrepreneur Co-Working” spaces.
These are awesome because they give me the opportunity to meet other ex-pats from other countries.
Since I moved here 4 months ago, I have met people from all over the world: Isreal, Turkey, Istanbul, other states in the United States, Iran, Poland, etc.
I’ve literally met people from all over the world, and continue to do so each week.
The freedom to choose each day, where I want to bring my labtop and go work, is a beautiful thing. It truly is guys.
Sure as hell beats the hell out of sitting in bumper to bumper, stop and go traffic 2 hours a day.
It beats the hell out of having a boss.
It beats the hell out of working around people I have nothing in common with.
It beats the hell out of everything.
4.) I can eat new and different kinds of food, that wasn’t available to me when I was still handcuffed to the United States (at a VERY low cost).
5.) Everything here only cost’s 1/3rd of what it did back in the States. One of the reasons I chose where I did (Eastern Europe) was because of the immense difference in how much things cost.
And by lower costs I mean literally everything.
Here’s proof:
(This is my receipt from buying a whole week’s worth of food at a Serbian grocery store. Only $17. The currency is Serbian Dinar, and 1,700 Dinar is essentially the equivalent of $17 USD)
Now imagine, what it will be like once you’re making $2,500-$5,000 a month (with ONLY 1-3 clients).
On that money you can pretty much live anywhere in Eastern Europe, or Southeast Asia, and live like a KING.
Shit where I live, you can live like a KING on just $2,500-3,000 a month….
So imagine what life will be like once get to the point where you can charge higher prices for your services, and you get to the point you’re making $4,000-$5,000 a month.
Then you’ll REALLY be in good place.
Again I’m in Eastern Europe, I hear its even less expensive in Thailand, and other parts of Southeast Asia, or South America.
CONCLUSION:
I’ve said this before (3 years ago), and I’ll say it again now:
”The world is headed towards Entrepreneurship”.
Three years ago I said that, which amazes me because its so much more true now, than it was when I first said it.
Everyone is online.
Go outside and look around, what do you see?
What I see are people looking at their cell phones.
EVERYONE is online.
What are you waiting for?
Another thing to keep in mind too:
Is that automation IS coming, whether you guys like it or not. Jobs are going to be eliminated in VAST quantities.
For example, I personally knew that auto insurance, at least on personal-lines level, might not even be around in 10-15 years.
As many of you know I used to be an insurance agent.
I saw the writing on the wall, and I knew I had to sell my business while it was still worth something.
Automation IS coming.
When it does, it will eliminate more jobs than you could possibly fathom. As a man and one that watches my channel, follows me on Twitter, and reads my blog: I know you are a man that wants more out of life.
A man that wants and strives for success in everything he does.
I know you’re that man, otherwise you wouldn’t have read this far.
Men like you, men like US, we need to skate to where the puck is going.
The puck is going in the direction of entrepreneurship, and towards working online.
There are a 100 reasons to get out of the United States, if 2020 has not been a clear indication of that to you, then I don’t know what ever will be.
Freelancing is not something you have to do for the rest of your life guys.
Freelancing is something that YOU GUYS can do right now, that will give you the opportunity I had 4 months ago (when I moved).
4 years ago: I had a plan and a vision in my head, to build up an insurance agency from scratch, and then sell it (at about the 4 year mark).
My vision was to then take that money, and expatriate overseas (then focusing completely on building my new online business),
All while not ”needing” to teach English, or worry about money once over here.
While my plan was not horrible, I don’t suggest you go the route I did.
The road I took, took 4 years and A LOT of stress, lost sleep, lost relationships, and lost TIME.
Time that I’ll never get back.
You have the opportunity to build a temporary business that will allow you to expatriate just a few months from now (instead of a few years from now). Don’t make life harder on yourself than it needs to be.
Your future is waiting for you.
I’ve opened the door for you, all you have to do is walk through it.
